OTOMO: Power Line Carrier-Based Street Light Control System, Empowering Efficient Management of Smart Lighting
Power Carrier Street Light Control System, Empowering Efficient Smart Lighting Management

Against the backdrop of accelerated smart city construction, street lights, as a crucial component of urban infrastructure, have made their intelligent and refined management a key factor in enhancing urban operational efficiency. Leveraging the core technology of power line carrier (PLC) communication, OTOMO has developed a professional street light control system. This system breaks through the efficiency bottlenecks of traditional street light management, enabling intelligent control throughout the entire lifecycle of street lights and providing an integrated solution for smart urban lighting that is both highly efficient and cost-effective.

Centered around PLC communication technology, this system not only facilitates remote and precise control over street light fixtures but also enables real-time monitoring of fixture operating status and accurate identification of electrical anomalies. Simultaneously, it synchronously collects core data such as line voltage and current, rendering the operational status of street lights visible and management decisions scientific. This approach fundamentally reduces the costs associated with manual inspections, enhances fault response efficiency, and achieves cost savings and efficiency improvements in street light management.

The entire street light monitoring system features a clear and highly collaborative architecture, comprising three core components: the master station system, street light concentrators, and fixture controllers. These components establish a comprehensive end-to-end control system characterized by "master station orchestration - concentrator relay - controller execution." Communication between the master station system and street light concentrators is achieved through GPRS for long-distance connectivity, ensuring the timely issuance of instructions and uploading of data. Meanwhile, communication between street light concentrators and fixture controllers relies on power line carrier communication, eliminating the need for additional wiring and adapting seamlessly to the existing urban line layouts, thereby significantly reducing deployment costs. Among them, the concentrator serves as the communication hub between network nodes and the monitoring center, while the fixture controller is responsible for collecting and reporting real-time operational data of street lights. It also accurately receives and executes instructions from the concentrator, performing fundamental controls such as turning street lights on and off and adjusting their brightness, as well as emergency responses like fault alarms. This comprehensive approach fully meets the diverse needs of intelligent urban street light management, laying a solid technological foundation for smart city lighting construction.
